Birmingham District Family Mediation opened in 1985
and is one of the largest and longest running family mediation services in
the country. We are affiliated to National Family Mediation, a network of
50 not for profit mediation services in England and Wales.
Through National Family Mediation, BDFM is a member of the Family Mediation Council, a body which ensures the professional standards of family mediators.
We also hold a Legal Services Commission Mediation Qualilty Mark.
BDFM specialises in family mediation and our mediators therefore have a high level of skill and experience in helping families resolve problems. As part of the ongoing developments within the Family Justice System we have recently been involved in the In-Court Mediation Pilot in the Birmingham Family Courts and continue to have mediatiors regualrly working with parents attending at Court. We are also a local provider of the DCSF Parenting Information Programme (PIP). We mediate about 400 cases each year.
